Buff Headwear Giveaway! (closes 10/19/12)

One random accessory I picked up on the trail was a Buff head wrap. I loved it! A lot of hikers, male and female, use these things in a variety of ways.

I wore it as a headband, especially needed because my hair too short to put in a good ponytail. When it was cold around camp, I would pull it down over my ears. Luckily, it didn't get cold enough to wear it as a balaclava on my thru hike... but I foresee some winter hiking this year!

The lovely people at Buff are helping me give away two items from their collection! Their selection can be found at BuffUSA.com. There are so many choices! I have the Original, or "Tubular" kind. But the headband style looks great, too! Oh, and how cute are the baby, kid, and doggie designs? The fabric is stretchy and wicks sweat away... and there are so many prints to choose from. Check out this one, with a map of the AT!

To enter the giveaway, comment with your favorite place to hike, Appalachian Trail or otherwise. Two people will be selected randomly on October 19th, so please comment by midnight to be entered.

  1. my favorite place to hike is around charlottesville, in the blue ridge mountains. humpback rock is more of a brief climb than a hike (it's only about a mile up), but the views are spectacular!

  3. definitely Shenandoah National Park. My sample size is small but its a great spot with great resources. Factor in the high(er) chance of mauling by a black bear/giant raccoon and you've got a recipe for a fun weekend

  4. Yosemite!... and the Uintas... and Zion... pretty much anywhere with mountains. Trails optional.

  5. I haven't seen a lot, but the Cohutta Wilderness in Georgia is great! So is Southern Virginia on the AT.

  6. Grandfather Mountain. I have great memories camping there with my dad. I need to go back!

  7. I love hiking in Yosemite and Tahoe - beautiful mountains, waterfalls, and Tahoe can be pretty empty for still being a tourist attraction.

  8. My favorite place to hike is the Grand Canyon! The view is gorgeous, and it feels like entering a different world.

  9. I love to hike in the Blue Ridge Mountains, but I also love Southern Utah for all of its red rocks and desert vistas. Top goals of places to hike: Yosemite, Alaska, Hawaii, and The Great Wall of China (if that counts!).

  10. We're planning a trip to yosemite next spring so I would definitely love the California tubular. My in-laws use these all the time to snowboard, so it's about time I fit in ;)

  11. My favorite place to hike is a tie between Old Rag in Shenandoah National Park or out here in Colorado (anywhere). You should definitely try Old Rag one of these days. It's about 4 miles uphill, 1.5 mile rock scramble (that has amazing views) and another 1.5 mile down. You're pretty much rock climbing and bouldering your way up that rock scramble...just don't get depressed when the old woman or the man with a baby on his shoulders passes you.
